Sony passed the $1 billion domestic threshold this weekend, matching Warner Bros. as the only other studio to reach that milestone for 11 straight years.

The Culver City studio is the second major after Disney to reach $1 billion domestically so far this year, thanks to successes like "The Amazing Spider-Man," which has cumed $242.1 million Stateside, and "Men in Black 3," at north of $175 million.

Sony reached $1 billion in 209 days -- a time second only to 2002, when the studio hit the mark in 191 days.

Warner Bros. and Universal will reach the milestone this week; Fox has currently collected more than $720 million domestically, while Lionsgate and Paramount follow with approximately $680 million and $567 million, respectively. Par, meanwhile, is the only studio not to have crossed $1 billion internationally so far this year.
