Sundance sets producing labs
New fellowship named after Bingham Ray

The Sundance Institute has named the lineup of producers tapped for the org's annual Creative Producing Labs, selecting a roster that will include the Institute's first Bingham Ray producing fellow, a slot named for late indie film maven Ray.
A total of five narrative projects and six docs were chosen for the 2012 labs, five-day work sessions with creative advisors including producers Anne Carey and Paul Mezey and sales agent Josh Braun. The Bingham Ray fellow, Summer Shelton, comes to the feature film lab with an untitled project about brothers hoping to smuggle exotic lumber, written and directed by Alex Moratto.
Also among the feature producers joining the lab are Lucas Joaquin and Tory Lenosky -- both alums of recent indie "Keep the Lights On," now chosen for the lab for pic "Bright as Day," about a London teen bonding with a horse. Kelly Williams ("Hellion"), Ashley Maynor ("Joy of Living") and Jordana Mollick ("Life Partenrs") also each bring a project to the feature lab.
On the doc side, participants include Shalini Kantayya ("Solarize This"), Yoruba Richen ("The New Black"), P.J. Raval (for an untitled work about gay retirees), Lucas Ochoa ("Who is Dayani Cristal?") as well as Anthony Arnove and Brenda Coughlin (partnered for "Dirty Wars: The World is Battlefield") and Omar Mullick and Bassam Tariq (both for "These Birds Walk").
Labs, which run July 30-Aug. 3, are followed by a three-day Creative Producing Summit, with some 40 indie filmmakers (including the lab participants) convening f or panels, discussions and meetings with 30 industry pros. Both events are held at the Sundance Resort in Utah.
