The risks producer Jon Landau has been willing to take on VFX-heavy and unconventional 3D movies have paid off profoundly. Partnering with James Cameron, Landau has production credits on two of the top grossing films in history: "Titanic" and "Avatar." Landau sat with Variety's David Cohen during the keynote session at the 2013 Technology Summit, hosted by SMPTE, to discuss his opinions and viewpoints on trends currently affecting filmmakers and audiences alike.

A cinematographer may equate the NAB show floor to a playground full of new toys to experience. However, that playground can quickly become an endless maze, filled with hundreds of vendors vying for attention. Celebrating Earth Day With LA 411 Listee Avon Rent A Car, Truck and Van
In honor of Earth Day, we'd like to highlight the efforts of listee Avon Rent a Car, Truck and Van. The company has become the first rental agency in the United States to incorporate the 2013 HINO diesel-electric hybrid trucks into their rental slate. The hybrid trucks provide better fuel economy, excellent horsepower and reliability, and rent for the same daily rate as traditional trucks.
In a press release sent earlier in April, Avon founder and owner Nelson Silver stated, "It's about being environmentally and socially responsible. Hybrid trucks are the next step in our continued effort to anticipate the needs of our studio production and entertainment industry clients."
Last year, Avon Rent a Car, Truck and Van introduced solar charging panels to the top of their box trucks. The company has a commitment to exploring alternative fuel and energy resources, and sharing that benefit with their clients.
