    Light and negative space were key elements cinematographer Danny Ruhlmann focused on in creating the images for "The Raven."

    Because most Australian features have a forty day shooting schedule, "The Raven" cinematographer Danny Ruhlmann, A.C. S., was familiar with the economical length of the production. He also felt the rainy, bleak, wintery weather during the two weeks of location shooting in Hungary worked perfectly for the film's mood and lighting. What did prove a bit complicated was finding crew in the unfamiliar countries.

    Writer/producer Chris Nee can't keep still. While her career began as a writer for children's programming such as "Blue's Clues" and "Little Bill" (which earned her an Emmy and Humantis Prize), her itch to travel inspired her to begin producing nonfiction fare such as "The Real Roseanne Show," Morgan Spurlock's "30 Days" and "Deadliest Catch." On location in the Bering Sea, she wrote more children's programming, discovering her two greatest loves: animation and documentaries, merged nicely on the strangest shores.

    The script for "Man on a Ledge" called for protagonist Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington) to spend the bulk of the tale perched 21 stories above a Manhattan intersection. Visual Effects Supervisor Richard Kidd had the responsibility of maintaining suspense throughout this thriller that was literally shot high in the air.

    New York City-based nonprofit organization Brooklyn Workforce Innovations will gather film and television production professionals for a celebration and networking event on the evening of Thursday, May 17th. The event – Breaking Boundaries – will offer valuable networking opportunities while celebrating industry diversity and a job training program that is connecting hundreds of diverse, low-income New Yorkers with significant career opportunities in the booming local television and film production industry.

    Rich Porter, co-owner of Action Theatrical, reached out to the Film Works campaign after visiting the Warner Bros. lot and noticing many campaign truck wraps on production vehicles. Earlier this month, campaign staffers paid Action Theatrical a visit to talk about runaway production and its effect on their business.

The new facility replaced an outdated structure at Paramount’s Hollywood location.     Register Today for Film Independents' Project Invovle

    Project Involve is Film Independent’s signature diversity program, dedicated to increasing diversity in the film industry by cultivating the careers of under-represented filmmakers. The program, which runs from October through June, selects filmmakers from diverse backgrounds and filmmaking tracks. During the nine-months, the Fellows are paired one-on-one with a mentor from the film industry, assigned to a team to make a short film incorporating a given theme, and attend monthly filmmaking workshops and other educational seminars.

    Application Fee: $45 Film Independent Members; $65 Non-members

    Application Deadline: April 30, 2012
